"The ice has started breaking up, gentlemen of the jury! The ice has started breaking up." - Ostap Bender (The Twelve Chairs, novel by Ilf & Petrov, published in 1928)

Twelve Chairs Gallery is a contemporary art space founded by Kristine Stasiulevich and Zura in the vibrant heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Dedicated to original and expressive work, the gallery presents curated exhibitions in our sculpture garden, online, and at select locations across New York.

The gallery takes its name from The Twelve Chairs, a satirical novel from the 1920s—a decade defined by radical artistic experimentation and the rise of modernism. That spirit of innovation, personal expression, and disruption continues to guide our curatorial vision.

We represent contemporary artists with strong academic foundations and a commitment to pushing boundaries across media. Our roster spans emerging and established voices united by a return to the beauty of figuration, reimagined through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Through exhibitions and immersive programming, we aim to bring these artists’ practices to broader audiences and spark meaningful dialogue between past and present, tradition and transformation.
