Bruce Gagnier’s life-size bronze sculptures reimagine the classical figure through the lens of an imperfectly sculpted state of being. His forms slouch, strain, and carry the weight of inner life, providing an experience that is less about anatomy and more about the heaviness of emotion. Though grounded in years of life drawing and clay sketches, these sculptures are shaped from memory and impulse, giving them a raw, intuitive presence.
Cast in bronze yet appearing fluid and malleable, Gagnier’s figures feel suspended between becoming and being. Stripped of a direct identity, they speak to something more universal, human, and profoundly alive.
