Commanding and contemplative, Helene presents a life-size female torso marked by rupture and radiance. A visible crack separates the front and back of the form—revealing an inner layer dusted in gold, glowing from within. The exterior bears the rough texture of aged patina, its surface resembling a garment of coarse burlap—earthbound, timeworn, resilient.
Zura’s sculpture explores the duality of strength and fragility, concealment and revelation. Helene is not whole, yet far from broken—she contains light, history, and presence. The golden interior suggests an inner sanctum, a spirit or soul held inside a weathered vessel, visible only through fracture.
