In The Masks We Marry, Zura unveils a powerful installation of life-size mixed media sculptures—hybrid figures constructed from collage, raw materials, and strikingly symbolic goat heads. These haunting forms confront the dualities of love and illusion, intimacy and disguise, standing as monuments to the emotional roles we perform in our most vulnerable relationships. The use of goat heads—a potent emblem of sacrifice, stubbornness, and myth—heightens the psychological charge of each figure, offering a surreal and unsettling counterpoint to the human body. Designed for both indoor and outdoor environments, The Masks We Marry invites viewers into a ritual space where vulnerability, performance, and identity blur. Zura’s work speaks to the silent negotiations we make with ourselves and each other—what we hide, what we reveal, and what we become in the act of being seen.
