Georgian Artist - Zura - To Save the White Rhinots of the North - AT

"Everyone has the right to exist on this Earth," says Zura, the Georgian sculptor based in the United States, in a short film created in collaboration with Mahala Gaylord. The film tells the story of the Northern White Rhinos, a species now on the brink of extinction.

There are only two female Northern White Rhinos left in the world. In a race against time, scientists are using stem cell technology in hopes of bringing new rhinos into existence.

Zura’s rhino sculpture is both a personal offering and a creative tribute to this critical conservation effort.

Zura, a Georgian-born artist based in Brooklyn, New York, has made his studio not just a space for creation but also a sanctuary for fellow artists—a place of learning where he shares his knowledge and artistic experience with a new generation.

Twelve Chairs Gallery is a space and institution founded on the belief that art is a powerful medium—one that bridges beauty and responsibility. It not only reflects the world, but also helps protect it.

The film documents the creation of Zura’s sculpture—an artwork born of hope that a new Northern White Rhino will one day walk the earth again, and that this extraordinary species will be saved from extinction.

The short film is currently being prepared for submission to festivals including DOC NYC, Jackson Wild, Hollywood, and AFI FEST. Its goal is to raise global awareness and inspire support—from research institutions, investors, and conservation organizations—for BioRescue’s groundbreaking work to save the rhinos.
